(ORIGINAL STORY)
An elderly Danville woman narrowly avoided being injured late Tuesday afternoon when an SUV crashed into her home on North Vermilion Street.
89-year-old Joan West said she had just gotten out of her chair and walked into the kitchen of her home in the 1800-block of North Vermilion Street around 4 p.m. Tuesday when the accident occurred.
“It sounded like the whole house exploded,” she said.
West’s daughter said her mother will be staying with her for now until construction crews repair the damage to the home. The crash left a gaping hole on the northwest corner of West’s house, which she says she has lived in for more than 50 years.
We will update this post later with more information from Danville police.
