Some ‘Everyday Heroes’ in Vermilion County are getting thanks for their efforts. Five of them were recognized during a breakfast at the Turtle Run Banquet Center in Danville in a program sponsored by First Savings Bank of Danville and Neuhoff Media.
Those being honored are:
- Madison Turner, who was named the ‘Youth Hero’ for her work with the English As A Second Language Program at Danville Area Community College and her volunteer work at her church;
- Guy Goodlove, who was named ‘Education Hero’ for inspiring teachers, students, and athletes both on and off the field at Westville High School;
- Jason Wills, a U.S. Army Veteran who served in Afghanistan was named this year’s ‘Military Hero.’ Jason was honored for sharing his positive outlook on life to other Veterans. He tells his story of recovery after being wounded during his tour of duty;
- And Nancy Boesderfer was honored as a ‘Community Hero’ for her countless contributions to several local activities – including the NJCAA Men’s Division II National Basketball Tournament, Love INC, the Festival of Trees and others;
- Also honored was Illinois State Trooper Tracy Lillard who was named the ‘Public Safety Hero’. Trooper Lillard is committed to teaching young drivers not to drink and drive, or text while driving. Trooper Lillard works passionately with the media and our community to ensure the safety of those who live and drive in State Police District 10.
Other sponsors for the ‘Everyday Heroes’ Program are Danville Area Community College, Wilson’s Body Shop, Watchfire Signs, Transitions Weight Loss, Jocko’s Restaurant, Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken and Strips, and the Turtle Run Golf and Banquet Center.
