Former State Representative Chad Hays is heading back to state government in an appointed position.
Hays was appointed earlier this month by Governor J.B. Pritzker to serve as a member of the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board. The board is in charge of administering the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Act, which establishes the right of educational employees to organize and bargain collectively.
Members of the state board are prohibited from having any outside employment, so Hays will be leaving his current position as the executive director of Crosspoint Human Services.
Hays represented the 104th district in the Illinois House from 2010 until 2018, when he stepped down. He previously served as the vice president and director of mission services at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center and as the mayor of Catlin. He is also active in many local organizations such as the Vermilion Area Community Health Center.
