Three more Vermilion County residents have died from COVID-19, according to the Vermilion County Health Department.
Emergency Planning and Response Coordinator Melissa Rome said Tuesday night that the deaths consist of a woman in her 90’s and woman in her 70’s and a man in his 40’s. The total death count from the virus locally is now up to 77 people.
The health department also announced 91 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday. Rome says Vermilion County now has 708 active cases, with 41 people hospitalized with the virus and 667 in isolation. Overall, there have been 5,532 positive tests locally.
The new cases, broken down by age, consist of:
- Two centenarians
- Seven people in their 90’s
- 10 people in their 80’s
- 11 people in their 70’s
- 20 people in their 60’s
- Six people in their 50’s
- 16 people in their 40’s
- Four people in their 30’s
- Three people in their 20’s
- Nine teenagers
- Three grade-school-aged children
The Illinois Department of Public Health announced 5,644 new COVID-19 cases statewide on Tuesday along with 106 more deaths. The state currently has totals of 948,006 cases and 16,179 deaths. Vermilion County’s rolling positivity rate is down a bit to 11.4 percent, while the state’s is at 7.4 percent.
