Some broadcasters at Neuhoff Media in Danville are among the finalists for the Illinois Broadcasters Association’s Silver Dome Awards. The awards are presented annually for excellence in broadcasting. Three finalists are named in each category during April and then winners are announced at a banquet in June. This year that banquet is being held at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum in Springfield.
The local Silver Dome Award finalists which were announced Wednesday include:
- For Best Local Broadcast Team – the WDAN Tournament Broadcast Team for the NJCAA Division II Men’s National Basketball Tournament.
- For Best Radio News Reporter – Bill Pickett
- For Best Radio Personality – Tommy B’s Big Show on WDNL and ‘’The Rock Nation’’ featuring Ken Kirby on WRHK K-Rock.
- For Best Radio Light Feature – Bill Pickett for coverage of a Grain Bin Bed & Breakfast.
- For Best Spot News Coverage – Bill Pickett for coverage of a Westville man being rescued from a fire.
- For Best Sportscaster – Eric Loy
All of the nominations are in the Small Market Radio category. Winners are also selected among Illinois’ medium and large market stations.
