A Danville man has been sentenced to probation after admitting to looting the Stock and Field store in Danville a few hours after a George Floyd march in the city.
Greyson Tibbetts was sentenced Thursday by Judge Nancy Fahey to 30 months of probation and ordered to pay court costs. He pleaded guilty in December to one count of burglary. In return, the state’s attorney’s office dismissed charges of mob action, looting and criminal damage to property.
Tibbetts was arrested after breaking and entering the Stock and Field store on North Vermilion Street around 11:15 p.m. on Sunday, May 31st. He was arrested along with another woman for breaking into the store. Three other people were charged with looting the Burlington Coat Factory store at the Village Mall that same night.
The incidents occurred just a few hours after several people broke into stores in Champaign-Urbana in a similar manner.
The other four cases are ongoing.
