Classes are in session at South View Upper Elementary School in Danville today despite a small fire that occurred at the school on Sunday. Danville Fire officials say a light ballast caught fire and dripped burning plastic down onto the carpet in the office area…igniting the carpet.
Although damage was minimal as firefighter’s quickly doused the fire, it did cause what was called some ‘’nasty smoke’’ which coated office equipment with soot.
Firefighters were called to the school shortly before 11:00 a.m. Sunday. They say the fire was contained to a hallway which runs between offices. No classrooms were damaged.
