Construction is officially underway on the new Marriott Towne Place Suites in Danville. A groundbreaking ceremony Monday kicked-off work on the 84 all-suites units to be built at 310 East Gate Drive (behind the Holiday Inn Express).
Vicki Haugen, President of Vermilion Advantage Economic Development Corporation, says the new units will fill a local need. ‘’It definitely is. In fact it’s interesting some of the employers that came out today to (show) support from out in this region are very excited because they have customers that come for two to three weeks to stay. And they look for this kind of property that just has not been offered in Vermilion County.’’
Sunrise Hospitality, Inc. is investing $7-million dollars to construct the new units. The company already operates the Danville Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn Express in that area just off Interstate 74 at Lynch Road.
Haugen says the new units will bring a nice addition to the community. ‘’The know the more transient that we see business travel, and the more contract purchasing that we see – even health care industry has a lot of contractors that come in for a month at a time to provide services. So the environment has really changed, and we’re excited because of the brand that Marriott brings – as the Patel brothers feel – will really attract visitors to this market who are going either to do business or activities in the region just because they follow the Marriott brand,’’ says Haugen.
The new Marriott Towne Place Suites are expected to be completed in 12 to 14 months.
