OSF HealthCare is preparing to offer COVID-19 vaccinations to patients.
Melissa Edington, the director of physician’s offices at OSF Multispecialty Services, says OSF plans to receive a limited number of doses this week, which will then be offered to patients who are at least 65 years old, as well as those with multiple chronic diseases such as congestive heart failure, chronic pulmonary disease and diabetes.
Staff members will reach out to patients through OSF MyChart, email or phone, and Edington says that people should be patient as there is a concern that phone lines could be overwhelmed.
The OSF website is being updated frequently as the process of vaccine distribution moves forward. Instead of calling, the public is asked to go to osfhealthcare.org/vaccine for updates. Residents can also find more vaccination resources in their community by contacting their local health department.
