A Hoopeston man has been arrested and indicted on charges that he exploited children and then distributed child pornography.
27-year-old Dalton Burmeister was arrested in December and is being detained by the U.S. Marshals Service.
He faces four counts of child sexual exploitation; and three counts of distribution, one count of receiving and one count of possessing child pornography. The sentence for the exploitation charges is 15 to 30 years in prison, five to 20 years for distribution and receiving and up to 20 years in prison for possessing child pornography.
Federal prosecutors say Burmeister exploited children under the age of six to engage in sexual activity in order to create images that he later distributed.
Illinois State Police and the Illinois Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigated the case.
