The Vermilion County Health Department says that 79 more people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the county.
Administrator Doug Toole says there have been 7,428 positive cases so far since the pandemic began.
The new cases, broken down by age, consist of:
- Three people in their 80’s
- One person in their 70’s
- 10 people in their 60’s
- 15 people in their 50’s
- 11 people in their 40’s
- 12 people in their 30’s
- Nine people in their 20’s
- Eight teenagers
- Nine grade-school-aged children
- One preschooler
Toole says that the state’s drive-through testing team will be back at the health department building (200 S. College St. in Danville) on Saturday and Sunday. He also says the department will have three vaccination clinics at the Health Department this week, focusing on second-dose vaccinations for health-care providers and first-dose vaccinations for educators.
The Illinois Department of Public Health announced on Sunday that Region 11, which consists of the city of Chicago, can return to Phase 4 of COVID-19 guidelines, which is the same phase that central Illinois is operating under. Region 7, which consists of Kankakee and Will counties, is also on track to move to Phase 4 on Monday. The only other regions still being restricted more closely will then be the Chicago and St. Louis suburbs.
