No injuries were reported Monday as flames destroyed a two-story home in South Danville. Battalion Chief Tom Pruitt says the front of the home at 207 East Third Street was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived on the scene. He says firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control in about 45 minutes.
Pruitt says there were people in the home when the fire broke out, but they were able to get out. The Battalion Chief added the fire is believed to have started near or on the front porch, but the cause is undetermined and remains under investigation.
A home next door, at 205 East Third Street, suffered some heat damage to some siding. Preliminary damage estimates for the home that was heavily damaged at 207 East Third were placed at $25,000.
Some off-duty Danville Firefighters were called in to help with this fire, and to handle other calls in the city.
