A Saturday afternoon fire destroyed a home along East 14th Street, south of Danville. The blaze also sent one man to the hospital with minor injuries.
Tilton volunteer firefighters found heavy flames and smoke coming from the home in the 100 block of East 14th Street when they arrived. They received mutual aid from the Westville and Catlin Fire Departments, along with an ambulance from Oakwood.
Neighbors who rushed to the scene tried to save some dogs but were driven back by the flames. Two dogs died in the fire.
An investigation continues into what caused the blaze. The location of the fire is about two blocks east of Illinois route one.
