Two more suspects are facing murder charges in connection with the May 30th stabbing death of a Danville man. Vermilion County State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy on Thursday filed first-degree murder charges against Ronald Pettis of the 1900 block of Deerwood in Danville, and Marcus Jefferson of Chicago. Both defendants are 23. They have been charged in connection with the May 30th stabbing death of 43-year-old Kuron Kimmons of Danville.
Pettis and Jefferson pleaded not guilty Thursday afternoon during a video court appearance. They are each charged with two counts of first-degree murder, aggravated battery along a public way and mob action.
Judge Derek Girton set bond for the defendants at one-million dollars each. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for later this month.
Danville Police had earlier arrested a 15-year-old girl in connection with the stabbing. She is being held in the Vermilion County Juvenile Detention Center.
Police were told Kimmons was stabbed shortly after midnight Tuesday morning (May 30th, 2017) when he was apparently attempting to break up an argument between several people. The stabbing occurred in the 900 block of Campbell Lane.
