Weather was no deterrent Monday as dozens of people walked in the Danville parade honoring slain civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King. Mary Thompson, one of the founding members of the Danville Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee, was thrilled to see the crowd…
And what would Dr. King think about some recent shootings in our area?

As the motorcade/parade paused at a small statue honoring Dr. King (at Jackson and Williams Streets), those in the crowd were reminded to keep the dream alive…

The parade ended at St. James United Methodist Church were a special service was held honoring King. On Sunday the MLK Scholarship Banquet was held in Danville.
