The Danville City Council has cleared the way for the city’s first roundabout intersection. It should be ready for motorists at the intersection of Jackson and English Streets by October, according to Urban Services Director David Schnelle.
Council members Sharon Pickering, Steve Nichols, R. J. Davis and Sharon McMahon voted against authorizing funding for the roundabout. Alderman Rickey Williams Junior explained why he supports the project…
Vice Mayor Brenda Brown said she had changed her mind about the project….
The improvements coming to the Jackson and English intersection will also expand a shared use path which runs through that area.
City Council members also authorized funding for replacement of a Voorhees Street bridge. It is the bridge which spans Stoney Creek, west of Bowman Avenue and east of Jackson Street.
