Five new Danville Probationary Police Officers received their badges and some advice during a swearing in ceremony at the Robert E. Jones Municipal Building. Public Safety Director Larry Thomason told them the badge is to never be tarnished….

The new Probationary Police Officers are Scott Showers, Henry Schroeder, James Rutledge, Joseph Moulton and Brandon Phillips. They will be leaving Sunday to attend classes at the Police Training Institute in Champaign-Urbana…
The new officers received a standing ovation from the crowd which included members of their families along with current and some retired Danville Police officers.
The five officers takes the Danville Police force to 59 sworn personnel. It is authorized to have 64, and Director Thomason says he hopes the additional vacancies can be filled in the next few months.
