Congressman John Shimkus says there was no winner in the government shutdown. ‘’Thankfully this one is over,’’ said the 15th District Congressman after President Trump signed a spending extension. ‘’The bill I voted for today was exactly the same as the one I voted for last week with a change in the date,’’ added Shimkus.
The Representative noted now the government is open, the military is being paid and children’s health care is being paid and extended for six years. ‘’Let’s get to work on a final spending bill and immigration reform,’’ added the statement released by Shimkus. ‘’Our constituents expect nothing less.’’
