The Danville Public Library is continuing to add more services in its return to full, in-person services since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
Library Director Jennifer Hess was a guest on Newsmakers on Monday morning. She says that some more seating indoors is now available, and up to 15 people can reserve the first-floor meeting room at a time. Anyone wishing to reserve the room can contact the library to do so.
In addition, the library’s virtual and pick-up services are continuing. Johnson Flanagan, the public services manager at the library, says more than 400 people picked up items this month from the library using the west entrance. Hess also says that part of the building could soon see some changes with a potential grant, including sliding doors and a security gate. She says the west side will then be one of the main entrances to the library.
“It’s a bit of a shorter walk from the parking lot,” she says. “Instead of going through those main doors under the canopy and through the vestibule, you could be dropped or walk and you could have direct access to the elevator and the stairwells.”
Next week has been designated as National Library Week nationwide, and the library is inviting its members to make short videos stating the reasons that they enjoy the library. You can text the videos to 217-260-0337 or email to jaugustson@danvillepubliclibrary.org.
