An investigation continues into a collision involving an SUV and a fire truck along Illinois route one this afternoon (Monday, Feb. 12, 2018). The impact knocked the Catlin Fire Department tanker upside down, and left injuries to firefighters and the driver of the other vehicle.
Initial reports indicate the fire truck was responding to a blaze in Westville’s downtown area at the time. Both vehicles suffered serious damage. Some emergency personnel who were on the scene of the Westville fire were among those that responded to the crash.
The initial reports to our newsroom indicated that 3 people were taken to the hospital from the crash. Their names and conditions were not immediately available.
Traffic was detoured around the crash scene as authorities went about investigating the incident. Other details were not immediately available.
