A man living near the home where another man’s body was found Wednesday says the victim ‘’was a good guy, who would do anything for people.’’ Some others agreed after word spread about the discovery of a body when firefighters responded to a home Wednesday morning in the 3600 block of Bayview Drive.
The Vermilion County Coroner had not released the name of the victim yet Wednesday evening, but Danville Public Safety Director Larry Thomason says police have taken a person of interest into custody in the case. Thomason says that person was taken into custody about two hours after the body was discovered. Thomason says the arrest was made ‘’many blocks’’ from the home on Bayview Drive. The name of the person of interest is also being withheld as the investigation continues.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire damage ‘’basically to a single room’’ at the home, according to Thomason. He says once the body was found…members of crime scene units from Danville and the Illinois State Police were called to the home.
The house is located in a residential area on Danville’s north side where large, modern homes are located. It is an area where crime has seldom occurred.
