Members of a fourth-grade class at Judith Giacoma Elementary School in Westville have been picked to be the official ambassadors for this year’s Balloons Over Vermilion event. Event co-chairs Pat O’Shaughnessy and Jim Anderson were accompanied by some of the pilots as they made the surprise announcement at the school Friday morning (February 23, 2018).
O’Shaughnessy told Shelly Jenkin’s class that when the ballooning event was launched two years ago the organizers wanted to make sure there were kids involved…
Ms. Jenkins did not know that the invitation was coming….
And Jenkins added she looks forward to class projects associated with the event….
Jaclyn Vinson chairs the Kid Zone area at Balloons Over Vermilion. She told the Westville students she will be depending on them for ideas on what to have in this year’s Kid Zone….
The Title Sponsor of this year’s Balloons Over Vermilion is the Julius W. Hegeler II Foundation. The event takes place on Friday, July 13th and Saturday, July 14th at the Vermilion Regional Airport.
