A Danville attorney who lost the race for Ward 7 on the city council in the April 6th election by one vote to alderman Darren York has decided not to seek a court order to recount the ballots.
Kaylan Huber, who is with the Davis and Delanois law firm, conceded the race via a Facebook post on Thursday. She says that she believes her resources and time will be better spent helping Vermilion County as a whole.
”I sincerely appreciate everyone’s support during my candidacy– it was a pleasure meeting so many individuals who are invested in our community’s future,” Huber says.
Darren York, a senior rehabilitation counselor with the Illinois Department of Hunan Services who was appointed to replace Steve Foster earlier this year, won the race by a margin of 281 votes to 280. Huber had sought a discovery recount in the Denvale and Denvale West subdivisions, which did not yield a change in the results.
York was officially sworn in for a four-year term on Tuesday night.
