Illinois State Police are alerting motorists that the eastbound lane of U.S. route 150 just east of Fithian was affected by a cave-in Sunday. A tile broke in the area (between Fithian and Oakwood) and it created a hole along the highway that was 5-feet deep and 12-feet wide.
Although the eastbound lane is expected to be closed through Tuesday, traffic can still get through the area. But expect delays and use caution because of flagging operations that will be directing traffic.
Crews from the Illinois Department of Transportation arrived on the scene shortly after the cave-in was discovered and are working to correct the problem.
