The organizers of this year’s Balloons Over Vermilion festival say they will be keeping all attendees safe from COVID-19, while also having new activities for the public to enjoy.
Co-Chairman Jim Anderson says that the layout has expanded to include more social distancing around the 79-acre Vermilion Regional Airport grounds. There will be multiple sanitizing stations and the Kids Zone will feature different attractions that will limit physical contact and interaction.
New to this year’s festival, which will run July 9-10, is a carnival. A&A Entertainment will be providing several games, rides and additional food vendors. There will also be a corn hole tournament.
Due to the pandemic, the festival will not be offering a shuttle service from outlying areas of the community. This is due to social distancing guidelines that cannot be achieved on buses.
“The decision to attend our event belongs to each individual and family,” says co-chairman Pat O’Shaughnessy. “While we are all excited to once again enjoy the magic of hot air balloon flight, should you not feel comfortable attending in person or do not feel well, please consider visiting our event virtually by following posts on our Facebook page and website.”
