Some residents living in the Morin’s Addition on Danville’s west side who were affected by last week’s flooding have requested information about a possible ‘’buy-out’’ of their property.
Mayor Scott Eisenhauer notes the program was offered many years ago by the federal government, but he adds it is not immediately available today. The Mayor says the City of Danville is investigating the opportunity for a ‘’buy-out’’ program, but it will take considerable time before an evaluation can be performed to determine if the program still exists, and whether the Morin’s Addition would qualify.
‘’While this MAY be an opportunity in the future,’’ said the Mayor in a letter to residents of the area, ‘’this would take several months to begin and residents should not wait on word regarding this possibility before making short-term and long-term decisions.’’
The Mayor adds he is greatly appreciative of the efforts of the American Red Cross who have been diligent in their volunteer service to the community.
