Vermilion County’s COVID-19 case rate is continuing to decline, even as more of the county opens up after months of mask mandates and some business reductions.
193 cases of the virus were reported over the past seven days, with the county now at a 3.3 percent positivity rate, down from more than four percent a few days ago. Health Department Administrator Doug Toole says that only one of those people was reported to have been fully vaccinated. The most recent coronavirus death was reported on May 13th. There have been 9,818 total cases in Vermilion County along with 135 overall deaths.
There are currently 160 active coronavirus cases in Vermilion County and 13 residents who are hospitalized with virus complications.
Both the Johnson and Johnson and Moderna vaccines will be available on Thursday morning from 9 a.m. until Noon at the Health Department’s building in Danville. You can register by calling 217-431-2662 or through the department’s website.
118 students received COVID-19 vaccines on Saturday during a clinic that was held at Mark Denman Elementary School in Danville. It was one of several Pfizer clinics last week that were open to teenagers around the county.
