A partnership between several churches in Danville will happen again on Saturday, June 12, as volunteers will once again be helping out in the community with building projects and other needs.
“Serve Together: Vermilion County” launched in June of 2019, and its second annual event took place last October, delayed a bit due to COVID-19. Terry Goodwin is organizing the event, says a new opportunity is available this year…
“We have some clean-up crews around Danville this year that are going to go out and clean up trash that is just laying around,” he explains. “One of our aldermen is actually helping us organize that and get that accomplished so we can make our city a little more beautiful.
Volunteers will be working on different projects between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., and everyone will then gather for a service at Lincoln Park at 4:30. Goodwin says the event also makes a difference in the sometimes polarized world that we live in today.
“One of the things we need to do is find the things we can come together on, the things we can agree on, and I believe serving our community is definitely one of those things,” he says.
Goodwin explains that anyone in the community is welcome to help out at the event. You can sign up online.
