Students attending Danville Area Community College will be paying more for tuition. Board members approved a $5 per credit hour hike in tuition during last evening’s meeting.
Board member Bill Black says he hopes students realize it is not something the board wanted to do. He says the State of Illinois is asking local community colleges to shoulder more of the cost of an education.
Board Vice-Chair Dr. Ron Serfoss says he believes the increase is fair not only to current and future students, but taxpayers as well. Serfoss noted earlier that the Danville Area Community College Foundation offers lots of scholarships.
Trustees also honored the DACC Cross Country and Basketball teams during last evening’s meeting. The Jaguar’s Basketball Team will be playing Tuesday evening in the NJCAA Division II Men’s National Basketball Tournament. Play in that 16 team tournament begins on Tuesday.
