Vermilion County Clerk Cathy Jenkins is reminding voters that some polling places have changed in advance of Tuesday’s Primary vote. The changes affect voters in Grant and Love Townships and Newell 2 – the Bismarck area.
‘’We want to accommodate the voters as much as possible,’’ said Jenkins. ‘’We had several requests to move the Hoopeston area voters from McFerren Park,’’ she added. She says voting for that area has been moved to St. Anthony’s in Hoopeston.
Voters in the Humrick area, or Love Township, will vote at the Wayne Blakeney building in Ridge Farm. ‘’Due to increasing concerns about ADA compliance, we felt the need to make this move, even if it’s temporary,’’ added Jenkins.
And voters in Georgetown precincts 1-4 will now vote at the Georgetown Fairgrounds Banquet Hall. They had voted at the Washington gym and Georgetown Township Building.
Newell 2 voters have voted for years at the Bismarck Men’s Club, but those voters will now vote at the new Bismarck Community Fire Protection District station. ‘’This will be nicer for not only voters, but more comfortable for the judges with the updated bathrooms and kitchen they’ll have access to,’’ says Jenkins.
Jenkins also reminded voters that although voters inside the Danville City limits can register or change their address in their polling places on Election Day, the county precincts outside Danville operate separately. County voters (outside Danville) will have to report to the County Clerk’s office – located at the Vermilion County Courthouse Annex – if they need to register and change their address. They will also be required to vote at that time.
Residents living outside Danville but within Vermilion County can call (217) 554-1915 if they have questions regarding voter registration….or call (217) 554-1911 if you have other questions about the election, such as where your polling place is located.
