A family-friendly event allowed people of all ages to join in helping make some improvements around Vermilion County on Saturday (June 12, 2021). It was the 3rd ‘Serve Together Vermilion County’ in which volunteers from area churches, and others, joined hands.
Molly Goodwin of Danville’s Second Church of Christ was one of the organizers. She was thrilled that work was being done on 21 projects…
{AUDIO: ‘’It’s super-exciting just to see people come together, and churches come together, to be unified to serve our community – and show that they really love our county and our area.’’}

(Terry and Molly Goodwin helped organize the event.)
Mark Ketcherside was with a group of adults and children who cleaned litter from an area along East West Newell Road. He noted some other groups were traveling to towns around the county…
{AUDIO: ‘’Some of them are going around praying for the other towns. There’s some people going up to the horse camp and working and doing some work up there (in Potomac). We’re going to be around just praying for people. Everybody needs prayer – everyone. And our community does.’’}

Local chiropractor Chris Robinson was helping with improvements at the Fair Hope Children’s Ministry…
{AUDIO: ‘’Just doing some touch-ups – me and Carol, here, are repainting the poles out front on the sign. They’ve got a new sign out front. There’s people inside doing some painting, cleaning. They’ve got a storage building over here that needs some work. There’s clothing racks they’re putting together – so we’ve got probably a full day of work in front of us.’’}

(Volunteers assemble racks for clothing at the Fair Hope Children’s Ministry in Danville Saturday.)
Other volunteers braved the hot weather to do yard work at homes of some senior citizens, exterior painting for Red Mask, and outdoor work at the Danville YMCA and Spring Hill Cemetery. And those were just some of the projects. All of the improvements were free of charge. Several area businesses covered the cost of materials. And free food and a prayer service were planned to cap the day.
