Police in Georgetown say one person is dead and another critically wounded in an early Monday morning shooting incident.
Georgetown Police Sergeant Ephriam Bolin says officers received a report of shots fired at the Terrace Acres Mobile Home Park around 6:20 a.m. (on March 26, 2018). When they arrived, police discovered that two people had been shot.
One of them – a young woman – was dead. Police say a young male had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to an area hospital. He was undergoing surgery this morning, so a condition report on him was unavailable.
Police have not released the names of either victim. Sergeant Bolin added that police had no suspect information. ‘’We’re in the middle of it, trying to figure out what happened,’’ said Bolin.
Our News Department has been told that the two who were shot had lived together as boyfriend-girlfriend for some time. Sources also said that between them they have three children – but none of the children were harmed according to police. ‘’They are fine and with other family members now,’’ said Sergeant Bolin.
An Illinois State Police Crime Scene officer was on the scene assisting Georgetown Police in the investigation.
The Vermilion County Coroner has not released the name of the young woman who died. And since police have not released the name of the male who was shot, we are unable to get an update on his condition.
