A Heat Advisory has been issued for our area today (Friday, June 18, 2021) by the National Weather Service. And there is also a possibility we could see some strong thunderstorms, especially late today.
The Heat Advisory is effective this afternoon through early this evening. Hot temperatures combined with the humidity may cause heat illnesses to occur. Heat Index values could be near 105 degrees. The Heat Index is how hot it feels when you factor the heat with the humidity.
The Weather Service says you should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun as much as possible, and check on neighbors and relatives. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles – especially in hot weather.
Wear lightweight, loose fitting clothing when possible when it is this hot. And take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside
