Volunteers from the American Red Cross have been assisting two Vermilion County families whose homes were recently struck by fire. Red Cross volunteers responded to five home fires in central Illinois since June 14, 2021.
In our area the families assisted live in Indianola and Ridge Farm. Others assisted were involved in house fires in Sidney, Pekin and Peoria.
The American Red Cross encourages adults to talk to their children about fire safety to help keep them safe. The Red Cross notes escaping a burning home in less than two minutes could be the difference between life and a tragedy.
