A 32-year-old Danville man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison in connection with the shooting of a woman. Circuit Judge Nancy Fahey sentenced Christopher Dawson for his convictions on charges of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, and Aggravated Domestic Battery.
Vermilion County State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy says Dawson must serve at least 85-percent of the sentence before he possibly becomes eligible for parole.
The charges stemmed from an incident in which a Danville woman was shot in the face in April of last year. Police found the victim when they responded to a call of a gunshot victim in the 100 block of Minnesota Street. But it was later learned that the shooting occurred in the area of the 900 block of Fowler.
First Assistant State’s Attorney Stephanie Weber and Assistant State’s Attorney Dan Taylor prosecuted the case with assistance from Danville Police.
