Even though rain canceled all balloon activities Saturday night, many people remained at Balloons Over Vermilion enjoying other activities. Friday night’s crowd set a record for Balloons Over Vermilion, and Danville Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr. said it was nice to see…
{AUDIO: ”You know balloons are second nature to us here in Vermilion County. But we have a friend visiting from the D. C. area, and he just thinks it’s amazing. He’s never seen a hot air balloon before. And whereas we grew up with them, so I think we take it for granted. It’s just something wonderful that we can offer to the entire world actually.}
Jeanie Cooke, Director of the Danville Area Visitors Bureau, says planning has already started for Balloons Over Vermilion for 2022….
{AUDIO: ”When you’re at an event like this, you’re looking at things and making notes and considering what you want to do next year to make it even more exciting than it is now.}
Cooke adds such an event would be impossible without the support it receives from sponsors and volunteers….
{AUDIO: ”My goodness, I mean, that’s an army of people that make this all possible. And especially this year I think it’s really given a lift to the community that this festival has come back, and it’s a great experience.”
Cooke’s office ran an information tent which also served as lost and found during the event. If you lost anything while at the airport, you can contact the Danville Visitors Bureau office to see whether someone found it and turned it in.
