A training session for law enforcement officers Friday in Danville focused on identifying elder abuse. Thirty law enforcement officers from Vermilion and Champaign counties attended the training.

The 8-hour long training session was being held at the Public Safety Building in Danville. It was made possible through a competitive grant from the U.S. Department of Justice secured with help from the CRIS Healthy Aging Center.
Those doing the training are members of the Vermilion County Task Force to End Abuse in Later Life. The team is comprised of State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy, Sgt. Bill Hurt of the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department, Tawnya Morgan from Crosspoint at the Y, Rachel Kenner of the Vermilion County Rape Crisis Center, and Melissa Courtwright of Adult Protective Services at the CRIS Healthy Aging Center.
