The Eastern Illinois Foodbank will host three Pop-Up Food Pantries serving eligible veterans on April 18, May 16 and June 20 from 10 – 11:30am at the Danville VA Chapel (1900 E Main, Danville, IL).
Pop-Up Food Pantries are single-day, mobile food pantry distributions that are staffed almost entirely by volunteers. These distributions are designed to increase access to nutritious food to veterans who are struggling to make ends meet. Approximately 8,000 pounds of food including pantry staples, produce, bread and bakery items, will be shared with 100-150 veteran households. These distributions are open to any qualifying veteran.
These distributions are open to any veteran or currently connected military service member who meets the income eligibility guidelines below. Veterans must present proof of veteran status. Eastern Illinois Foodbank works to alleviate hunger in eastern Illinois through cooperation with a network of food pantries, agencies and other programs. The Foodbank distributes donated and discounted food throughout an 18-county service area in cooperation with 200 member agencies and programs. Through these agencies, the Foodbank provides meals to more than 120,000 men, women and children each year. The Eastern Illinois Foodbank is a member of Feeding America, Feeding Illinois, the United Way of Coles County, and the United Way of Champaign County.
