A group opposed to changing Danville’s form of government says it is going to concentrate on how a 1987 Civil Rights lawsuit has improved representation. Vice Mayor Brenda Brown is a co-chair of the committee opposed to changing Danville from the Mayor-aldermanic form to the City manager – council one….
The committee that is opposing the proposed change will be holding a public meeting on Saturday, May 5th, to organize its campaign. The session is being held at the Laura Lee Fellowship House along East Williams Street in Danville.
Moving Danville Forward is the name of the group that proposed changing to the City Manager/Council form of government last month. Members of that group say they believe it is time to offer citizens the option to choose trained, professional leadership in guiding and prioritizing the use of taxpayer resources through oversight of the day-to-day operations of the community.
