The Vermilion County Bobcats are helping raise funds in support of the Danville Youth Hockey program. The Bobcats are the new local hockey team which is part of the Southern Professional Hockey League.
A silent auction conducted at Danville Stadium on July 27th in which bidders were awarded game-worn Vermilion County Bobcats-themed Dans jerseys ultimately raised $2,100. The owner of the Bobcats, Ellen Tully, matched the figure in support of Danville Youth Hockey.
‘’This organization is all about giving back to the community and infusing the hockey talent right here in Vermilion County,’’ said Bobcats Vice President of Broadcasting and Communications Casey Bryant. He says the Bobcats want to make sure Danville Youth Hockey is equipped as best as possible.
The funds raised by the Bobcats will go directly to offsetting Danville Youth Hockey costs, including a new set of jerseys and apparel featuring the new Vermilion County Jr. Bobcats logo.
Registration is still open for Danville Youth Hockey. To become a Jr. Bobcat visit facebook.com/Danville Youth Hockey, or email danvilleyouthhockey@gmail.com.
The Bobcats will play 56 games this season, including 28 of them on their home ice at the David S. Palmer Arena. Questions about the Bobcats can be directed to info@vcbobcats.com.
