Vermilion County real estate tax bills are on their way! County Treasurer Darren Duncan says the bills are being mailed today (Friday…May 4th, 2018). He says taxpayers will have until June 15th to pay their first installment of their tax bill. The second installment will be due September 4th, 2018.
For years the County Treasurer’s Office has been unable to get the bills out in early May, as dictated by state statute. Duncan says he is pleased to see the bills going out on time this year. He notes that with the earlier mailing, property owners will have a wider window to pay their real estate tax bill. It will also allow the Treasurer’s Office to make timely distributions to taxing bodies throughout Vermilion County. Duncan notes those payments will be going to many cash strapped school districts as well as other taxing bodies.
The County Treasurer adds it is his intention to maintain the timely schedule for tax collections and disbursements in future years.
There are several ways that you can pay your tax bill including paying online under the Treasurer’s Tab on the County website, vercounty.org; paying at the Vermilion County Administration Building at 201 North Vermilion in Danville; mailing your payment to the PO Box listed on your tax bill payment coupon, or at most Vermilion County banks.
Vermilion County banks that accept real estate tax payments include:
- First Midwest Bank
- First Financial Bank

Duncan says taxpayers should check their bill to verify the proper exemptions have been applied. The owner occupied and senior citizen exemptions are the most common ones received by taxpayers.
