Residents of Vermilion, Iroquois and Kankakee counties who were affected by February storms and flooding will be getting some assistance from the U.S. Small Business Administration. The agency has approved a request for assistance according to Governor Bruce Rauner.
In addition, residents and businesses in counties which are contiguous to those three counties can also apply for assistance from the flooding and storms which passed through the region.
‘’This assistance will help many people and businesses begin the next phase of their recovery from this disaster,’’ said the Governor.
In order to be eligible for an SBA declaration at least 25 homes and/or businesses in a county must have sustained major damage. In March disaster teams which surveyed the region determined 123 homes and 9 businesses met the criteria in the three counties – including 21 homes in Vermilion County.
More information on the disaster loan program, including details about Disaster Loan Outreach Centers, will be announced soon.
