A change is being considered in the City of Danville ordinance allowing open alcohol at downtown special events. Members of the Public Works Committee of the City Council recommended last night (Tuesday, May 8th, 2018) that the ordinance be amended to allow a person to carry two drinks instead of just one alcoholic beverage at a time.
Corporation Counsel David Wesner says no outside alcohol may be brought to the events – such as Summer Sounds and Culture Shock. And buckets or coolers of alcoholic beverages are also not allowed at the events.
The proposal now advances to the full city council for consideration next week.
