Three-hundred fifty students from six area schools got a special lesson Tuesday on rural health and farm safety. The 5th and 6th graders were attending Carle’s Progressive Ag Safety Day at the Vermilion County Fairgrounds.

Students attending the sessions were from Rossville-Alvin, Bismarck Henning, Armstrong Ellis, Potomac, Hoopeston and Prairieview-Ogden South. The Progressive Ag Safety Day is coordinated by Carle Center for Rural Health and Farm Safety, Bunge and the Danville Sanitary District. Over 80 volunteers serve as presenters, group leaders and give general assistance. And Ag students from Oakwood, Armstrong and Hoopeston also help with the event.
