Some local kids are headed back to school with fresh haircuts thanks to an event held over the weekend at the David S. Palmer Arena. Darrin Hightower, CEO of the non-profit group DK2, organized the event…
{AUDIO: ‘’I know when I was younger haircuts meant a lot to me. Whenever I got a new haircut I felt like a million bucks. So I figured that would be a nice way to put some wind beneath their wings and get them started for the school year man. Positivity.’’}
Cuts By Dazeys’ Hair Lab supplied the haircuts. But there was a lot more than haircuts at the free event. Face painting, food, and music were also provided. And Danville Area Community College Head Basketball CoachDajaun Gouard, and DACC Cheerleading Coach Nikia Glory also stopped by to provide some tips.
Hightower says he hopes his group can help in other ways…
{AUDIO: ‘’It’s a non-for-profit. You know really we don’t specialize in any single thing. We’re just here for the community – community help. We’re going to try to just branch some things together and just be a backbone. So when we hear the call we’ll come running.’’}
One of Saturday’s goals was to provide 100 free haircuts.
