A Danville man is dead after being struck by an auto along Illinois Route One late Saturday night (September 4, 2021). Illinois State Police say their preliminary investigation found the victim was walking northbound in the lane of travel on route one, just south of Interstate 74.
A northbound auto being driven by a 19-year-old Georgetown man struck the pedestrian at about 11:15 p.m. The driver of the car was not hurt and any charges are pending the outcome of the investigation. The name of the man who died is being withheld pending notification of relatives by the Vermilion County Coroner.
State Police say their investigation is continuing.
