The Danville radio stations of Neuhoff Broadcasting won some top statewide Silver Dome Awards from the Illinois Broadcaster’s Association last night (June 6, 2018). Tom Barnes and Maggie Brown were named the ‘Best Radio Local Broadcast Team for Tommy & Maggie in the Morning on WDNL. Bill Pickett won a First Place Award in the category ‘Best Local Radio Newscast’, and Eric Loy won First Place for ‘Best Sportscaster’.
Pickett and Linda Bolton also won a Second Place Award in the ‘Best Hard News Story’ for coverage of ‘A Local Teen Fights Drug Abuse’. And Pickett was among the top three statewide in the category of ‘Best Radio News Reporter’.
Other Silver Dome Awards won by the Neuhoff stations of WDAN, WDNL and WRHK (K-Rock) included:
- A Second Place Award in the Category of ‘Best Radio PSA for Local Charity/or Cause’ for The Community Spotlight/ Women’s Care Clinic.
- A Third Place Award to Ken Kirby of K-Rock for the Best Radio Station Self-promotion – K-ROCKtober.
- A Third Place Statewide Award to Ken Kirby & The Rock Nation on WRHK.
All of the awards were in the Small Market Radio category. They were presented during the Illinois Broadcaster’s Association’s Annual Awards Banquet in Bloomington-Normal.
