Have you ever heard of co-opetition? Earle Steiner, Director of the Danville Area Community College Small Business Development Center, was talking to D102’s Tommy B about it on Thursday morning (Sept 16th). He says a pair of surveys, put together by the Small Business Development Center and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, is meant to hit both the “looking for a job” perspective and “looking for good employees” perspective.
AUDIO: Two different surveys: there’s a Job Seeker’s Survey, and for the Vermilion County job seekers it asks them the questions that would be focused on a job seeker. And then there’s a really important one that goes with that and that’s the Community Perception Survey. And community perception is obviously very large, as far as how is that employer looked upon in the community and why would you want to go work there?
Steiner says both surveys are meant to strengthen the community, for both employers and businesses. The stronger everyone is, the stronger the community is.
AUDIO: And the Job Seeker’s Survey, anybody that’s looking for a job, thinking about a job, can take that. Community Perception Survey campaign is pretty much “What do you feel about these different business?” And these businesses all opened up to each other and said, “Hey, let’s work together to be better tomorrow.” So it’s pretty cool when you get some collaboration going between business competitors, in the hope of mutually beneficial results.
