Danville Police responded around 3 PM Tuesday to reports of a 19-year-old Catlin man with a knife to his stomach threatening to harm himself as he stood on the outside ledge of the Memorial Bridge on South Gilbert Street. Members of the Danville Police Crisis Intervention Team spoke to the man, who eventually agreed to drop the knife and walk to safety. The officers then arranged for the individual to receive some mental health treatment at a local facility. No one was injured, and the bridge was shut down for about an hour.
