Tricia Keith from the Vermilion County Regional Office of Education once again has her countywide shoe drive going. She stated on Linda Bolton’s Newsmakers program on 1490 WDAN the need for new shoes, tennis shoes or sneakers, so that students have good shoes to wear to school. She says this need is very real. And once again, she’s asking for your help.
AUDIO: Again, a pair of shoes, can make such a difference again with their self-confidence. It makes them want to come to school a little more often, they feel better about themselves. I just wish one time I could video a student getting a brand new pair of shoes. And for some of these kids it’s the first time they’ve ever had their very own pair of shoes.
Keith reminds us where you can drop the shoes off.
AUDIO: Country Financial at 221 Bank Street in Hoopeston…..The Regional Office of Education right in the rear entrance of the Health Department building on College Street in Danville…..The Rogers Law Firm in Downtown Danville ….and also the Ridge Farm Back Pains Center.
She says, remember, kids come in all sizes, so please, donate all sizes from quite large to quite small.
Keith also mentioned on Newsmakers that yes, the education world needs people. If you are interested in joining the team, please let the Vermilion County Regional Office of Education know.
AUDIO: If anybody is interested in becoming a part of the education system, please contact our office and we can walk you through the steps to see if we can get you qualified to serve in some capacity.
